Somatic-Based Interventions

Why use these interventions?

Trauma, stress, and emotional pain don’t just live in the mind—they also live in the body. If you’ve ever felt a tight chest when anxious, a lump in your throat when holding back tears, or tension in your shoulders that never quite goes away, you’ve experienced how emotions and past experiences show up physically. Somatic-based interventions recognize this connection and offer ways to heal not just through talking, but through tuning into and working with the body.

What could this look like?

Unlike traditional talk therapy, which focuses mainly on thoughts and emotions, somatic therapy helps you become more aware of the sensations, patterns, and stored stress in your body. Through guided awareness, breathwork, grounding techniques, movement, and other body-based practices, you can learn to release stored tension, regulate your nervous system, and develop a deeper sense of safety and connection within yourself. These techniques help you move out of "fight, flight, or freeze" states and into a more balanced and resilient way of being.

Who could somatic-interventions help?

Somatic interventions are especially helpful for individuals who have experienced trauma, chronic stress, anxiety, dissociation, or chronic pain. If you’ve ever felt stuck in cycles of overthinking or like talk therapy alone isn’t enough, somatic approaches can provide a different, more embodied path to healing. Your body holds wisdom, and through somatic therapy, you can learn to listen to it, work with it, and find relief in ways that feel natural and sustainable.
