Approach
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR therapy is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. To date, EMDR therapy has helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological issues.
Mindfulness & Meditation
Mindfulness is the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something. Simply put, being present in the current moment. Being able to be present allows one to be more engaged with your emotions, observe your thoughts, and learn to pause before decisions, reduce feelings of being overwhelmed, be less reactive, and much more. Teaching skills to help clients grown in their ability to stay present is one of my favorite interventions. Especially, as it has been shown to be extremely beneficial towards anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns.
The goal of DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) is to help clients live a life that is worth living. DBT can be used in various settings, in various ways. For my clients, I focus on the skills taught with DBT. Often learning DBT skills means gaining new ways to decrease harmful behaviors and replace them with effective, life-enhancing behaviors.
