This this is a two day training: 4/17/25-4/18/25 from 9a-3:30p CST both days.
With 1 in 5 people experiencing chronic pain in the US and at least half of the population experiencing at least 1 chronic disease, it is inevitable that a mental health professional will have a client who will have chronic pain or illness (or both!).
This seminar is for mental health professionals who wish to improve their skills in working with individuals within this population.
This training has been expanded from the previous 6 CE hr version to allow more time for hands-on practice, group discussions, and experiential work.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
Explain the pain cycle to clients and it’s importance in therapeutic work
Outline how chronic stress can impact a client’s physical and mental health
Recognize the impact of chronic pain and/or illness on client’s daily life
Comprehend the complex relationship between physical and mental health concerns
Develop practical plans to help clients cope with navigating the healthcare system
Analyze diverse factors in the assessment and treatment planning process for this demographic
Identify evidence-based clinical interventions for this population.
List coping strategies for client to help them break the pain cycle
Summarize the nuances of building and sustaining positive rapport with this population.

CE Credit Available: 10 CE hrs with the completion of both days. Abundant Hope Therapy has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7477. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Abundant Hope Therapy is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

Food Options: Lunch will not be provided, however there will be a 1 hour lunch break both days from 12-1p. Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunch, and there are also various dining options within short distances of the venue.
About the Presenter: Katie Casey, LPC-MHSP (TN #4175), has been in the field for over 10 years. Through various experiences within inpatient, short and long-term residential settings, rehabs, and outpatient settings, Katie has honed her specialties to working with those with complex trauma, helping professionals, and those with chronic pain and illness. Additionally, Katie has used EMDR in her work for over 10 years to aid in her therapeutic approach. She also serves as an approved clinical supervisor in Tennessee. She is the founder of Abundant Hope Therapy in Mount Juliet, Tennessee.
Materials: All registered participants will receive the seminar materials and any other important information approximately 3 days before the training.
Refund Policy: Full refunds will be available 1 week before the event. After that time, refunds will be given in terms of a credit for a future training held by Abundant Hope Therapy
