The presenter will utilize lectures, discussions, videos, and case studies to support the learning objectives and facilitate learning.
The silence of a home after the loss of a companion animal introduces a unique, profound form of grief that is often misunderstood or minimized. This clinical training equips mental health professionals with trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches to supporting clients through pet bereavement. Participants will explore disenfranchised grief, attachment, disrupted daily rituals, and the emotional impact of an “empty welcome home”. This experiential, lecture style training also addresses assessment, intervention, countertransference, and clinician self-care, leaving attendees with practical tools to confidently support clients experiencing companion animal loss.
Date and Time: 9/12/26, 8a-12p

3. Identify common clinical triggers tied to daily routine transitions, including the “missing welcome home”.
4. Analyze personal clinician responses, countertransference, and the risk of compassion fatigue when working with bereaved pet owners.
