The presenter will utilize lectures, discussions, videos, and case studies to support the learning objectives and facilitate learning.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the neurobiological and physiological impact of sexual trauma on the autonomic nervous system and related body systems.

  • Describe how sexual trauma alters an individual’s perception of somatic, relational, and environmental safety.

  • Identify clinical indicators of hyperarousal, hypoarousal, freeze, and dissociative responses specific to sexual trauma survivors.

  • Outline strategies for supporting clients in recognizing, communicating, and maintaining embodied boundaries within therapy sessions.

  • Demonstrate at least three trauma-informed somatic interventions appropriate for clinical use with sexual trauma survivors.

  • Apply trauma-informed care principles when integrating somatic interventions with this population.

  • Illustrate how to incorporate somatic interventions into treatment planning, goal development, and phased trauma treatment.

CE Credit Available:  6 CE hrs. Abundant Hope Therapy has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7477. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Abundant Hope Therapy is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

About the Presenters: Katie Casey, LPC-MHSP (TN #4175), has been in the field for over 10 years. Through various experiences within inpatient, short and long-term residential settings, rehabs, and outpatient settings, Katie has honed her specialties to working with those with complex trauma, helping professionals, and those with chronic pain and illness. Additionally, Katie has used EMDR in her work for over 10 years to aid in her therapeutic approach. She also serves as an approved clinical supervisor in Tennessee. She is the founder of Abundant Hope Therapy in Mount Juliet, Tennessee.

Holli Ellis, LPC-MHSP has lived and worked in the Nashville, TN, area for 10 years. She holds a Master's degree in Counseling and Human Development earned her LPC-MHSP licensure in December 2015. Through Befriending Our Bodies, Holli is committed to helping all individuals ease their nervous systems. Holli is mindful of the oppression faced by BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and people in larger bodies and works to dismantle these barriers. In addition to individual therapy, Holli incorporates yoga, Reiki, and bodywork into her practice.

Materials: All registered participants will receive the seminar materials via and any other important information via email, approximately 3 days before the training.

Refund Policy: Full refunds will be available 1 week before the event. After that time, refunds will be given in terms of a credit for a future training held by Abundant Hope Therapy
